Thanks for giving me some direction. I continue to struggle with getting my keywords in my copy without violating point #6 above. It suppose this will always be a learning process!

I totally agree with Jim - basic spelling, grammar and punctuation is so important if you want to make a positive impression and come across as if you know what you're talking about. Yet it's so often sadly lacking.

Khuram, there is a plethora of information and many books written to help educate people on the correct uses of search engine optimization and search engine marketing. The 5 items you list are good reminders for what to educate one's self on, and what to avoid.
There is also a lot of excitement to content marketing, another way of saying public relations writing, and the bottom line continues to be that content is king. As a professional copywriter, I cringe when I see typos and misused words and phrases that could so easily be improved to convey messages in all types of media, and we all need to recognize our strengths and our weaknesses for our communications efforts. Improvements with the help of specialists in any profession can and will help make communications better.

There's no doubt that good copy is one of the most important, yet often most overlooked parts of a site. Nice graphics and an attractive design are worth nothing if people don't find your site (which depends a lot on the words you use), and if they don't get the right message when they do arrive!
